Hi, I am Emily
Project manager. Parent. An expat living in London, United Kingdom.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to United Kingdom wasn't in the original plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Transition Phase
Culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning were part of it. Gradually, routines emerged. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Created AutumnCrestLane
Most online guidance fell into corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a frank, everyday family view.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is NOT:
- Real-world insights gained from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when there is a meaningful change
This site ISN'T:
- A tourist board resource
- Paid-review platform
- A generic travel diary
Future outlook
Our stay in United Kingdom goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, please feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emily
